finished blanket with sockyarn

It is done, with many mistakes because of my tension problems.
I look at it and I think it was woven by someone on a back strap loom many years ago. It has and old vintage look to it. I washed it with towels in the washing machine to make sure it doesn't come apart. It is going to be a play blanket for a baby which he might take with him for naps to daycare as well.
When I chose the yarn, I thought of legos. When I finished it, it looks like ikat dyeing done in Central America. And I do like it. Maybe because of the mistakes, of all the small imperfection it has. It makes it more personal, something which beckons you to use it. Farewell my learning project.
Now I have to try a second one and hope I learned to control my own loom better.

blanket with sockyarn

I like sock wool as the weft. The pattern is beautiful. But.......

weaving for the first time 40 inches on my loom shows how inexperienced I am....
big tension issue.....have to work on it later
on a positive note, I really learn to work out all the technical problems on my loom

working on my loom at home

moved it in the living room to have perfect A/C on me
this time, I am more concerned to get everything setup correctly before I start weaving.
Funny, how it influenced my dreams. The past few night I dreamt of either numbers, calculations or repetitions. I dreamt the same dream over and over with different outcomes. Kind of neat. It wasn't hurried nor rushed - liked that part.

My Bahamas scarf is off the loom, not washed yet. I am still thinking about how to do the fringes and if I should stitch needlepoint in the pattern? Haven't come to a decision yet.

Sunset in the Bahamas

I had no idea, there were so many different colors in the blue, just like the reflection would have been at Sunset.

Instead of enjoying this evening weaving, I was in a hurry. The semester is coming to an end and I wanted to have this scarf done and take it off the loom. I went in an hour earlier, thinking if I also go on Tuesday for a couple of hrs , I would get it done, but then I saw, that I could finish it on Thursday. Wish I would allow myself to enjoy the process more. I promise I do that on Thursday, I should have plenty of time.
Can you find my mistake on the back. I did not notice it when I was weaving.
